Front Fender Extension

Ok...I've waited long enough! I've had my '08 Airbag Wing a little over 2 years and still not one single accessories manufacturer that I know ofhas developed a front fender extension that will work with an Airbag model.:cussing: I'm not talking about those short ones...I want a long one that actually works...I'll take chrome, black or a color matched one - don't care, just want one.

Does anyone out there know if anyone has developed one yet?

Try here, curious, how long is long or how short is too short?

Interesting, all the ads on wingstuff for the 1800 say "won't fit airbag models". What is about the airbag model that's different? Does it have a different fender or is the airbag sensor in that area?

Your right didn't notice that. Makes me curious too. :?

I think the problem is not with it fitting but with it having a possible adverse effect on the operation of the airbag system. The manufacturers are just covering their backsides from possible legal problems.

Supposedly there is a support bracket used to attach the fender extension that interferes with an airbag sensor in the fender. Some of the shorter extensions don't require the support bracket and will work but they're not long enough to keep debris off the engine IMO.

Sure seems like someone could make one that works on the airbag model...

Disappointed...

Need one of the problem solvers on this board to come up with a solution that can safely be attached behind the front fender. Either it hangs or can be flipped down from a permanent position.

Good idea!

I installed this one in April '08,there was no disclaimer regarding the AirBag then..... I can't see anyway that any part of the extension or brace can interfere with the AirBag deployment expecially considering how the AirBag is activated....

I also seriously doubt that the manufactures actually tested an AirBag unit considering the expense in wrecking one in a test setting.

It works reasonably well. There is still tar deposits on the bottom of the front cowl and string up the back lowest 2" of the chrome extension. Also, in loose gravel that sticks in the tread of the tire the rocks don't always clear the extension and can be heard hitting the extension. In 20,000 miles the very bottom edge is somewhat distorted to the touch but not a visual issue.

I have heard a lot of reports of fenders cracking due to the extension but I have not heard it from someone that I know.

Do what you want, either way.

I am perfectly aware that HONDA tested the Airbag. manufactures (Note: plural) indicates multiple manufacturers of the fender extensions NOT multiple manufacturers of a HONDA.
