I was just getting of the highway on my way homeafter a two day ride when all of a sudden fuel and temp gauge stopped working. Then I noticed my tach and neutral nite were out also. Directionals and high beam lites work though. Any thoughts?

It looks to be a fuse probably but since I am having to work from a haynes manual (lost my 1200 CD) I can't be much more help.

Look into the 7 volt regulator, it may be the cause.
The other items not working besides the gauges points to something before the 7v. regulator.
All those things are on 1 fuse.

Okay, then it may be fuse #3. It supplies power to the 7v Reg and the Tachometer; in addition to the Oil Pressure, Neutral, and Overdrive indicators.

Please tell us you did check the fuses before taking it to a shop.
