Wondering what the options are for replacing the fuel filter or fuel pump for a 1986 gl 1200 SEi Honda goldwing. It is my understanding Honda no longer has these parts. Would a fuel filter from a 1986 Honda Civic work (MGD33162)? Checking the auto parts store, it would be a special order status. Although the dimensions of the fuel filter is about 1/2 inch taller and wider, it may fit. However, I do not know if the banjo bolt would fit or not. Is there a concern about the flow rate of the filter or any other specs? I have seen some recommended fuel filters on this forum. The Hastings GF159 and the WIX 33556 looked to large. The NAPA 3556 is not available. Couldn't find anyone carrying the Fram G3969. For the fuel pump, I have heard the 1983 toyota Cilica Airtex E-8000 may meet the specs for a replacement? Any other options anyone is aware of?

Fuel Pump Options:

Font Rectangle Number Magenta Circle

Have tried the Airtex E8312, smaller than OEM but works well.

Fuel Filter Options:

Hastings GF159/Beck Arney 043-0897/Fram G3969

I use the Beck-Arney 043-0897. Have to modify the bracket to fit the larger fuel filter but fits in the same space. The banjo bolts are an exact fit. Bracket mod - need a longer bolt:

Thank you for the info., I bought a used SEi filter years back but never tried it. Can one determine if it is good or not or a is there a flow test? Have 30,000 plus on my bike and to my knowledge the filter has never been changed.

Does the fuel pump installed work? If so, do a fuel flow test IAW the Supplement first.

Hi, I haven't installed or purchased the fuel pump yet. Wondering based on your experience if the connections all work or if there are any modifications I need to be aware of first.

There will be a power and ground wire. Inlet to the pump will not be an issue - pump is generally shorter and taller in diameter, will need additional rubber pieces around any new pump to secure it in the FP holder. The OEM FP outlet is different from the new style. You can still connect the OEM outlet hose to a new pump.

Here are some pictures:
