Completely different, and the price reflects the diff. It's a high pressure filter. Don't sub anything rated less than 50 psi. ServiceHonda is the best price.

Here's one that just sold on Ebay. SEi's the same. If you find one for 5.00, please let me know. They're so large, they should run for-ever. If it plugs up solid on you, reverse the line from pump, point (what was the inlet end), into bucket, turn on key (in gear), hold starter for a few secs. That'll flush it out, enough to get home. Then you could switch to your new spare.

I recall paying 26 us dollars for mine here in California. They are a different unit than the standard (non FI) models. Tell your parts fellow to look under the ltd or SEi section of their computer!!! My parts guy kept insisting that the LTD and SEi fuel filters were the same as the other Goldwings for 85 86!!!!

Is there any room to put a regular cheap type filter between the tank and the high pressure pump? If you can the expensive one ought to last near forever. Sorry to say I can't remember the plumbing on my SEI enough, but I thought the pump was separated from the tank with enough room for primary low pressure filter.

That'd be about a 3/8 sized filter. It could be done, and actually not a bad idea. Why feed trash through the pump, like oem is set-up. I believe there's a strainer in the inlet of pump, but surely it couldn't be very fine, or it'd plug up real quick. That's a 600.00 pump, so a filter in front of it would be smart. Have to do some hose mods, for sure.

I am on a trip to Boston this week. I will let you know if a pre pump filter is possible when I getback home. Sounds like a good idea to me. Thanks Guys

Well I ordered a new fuel filter but now I am thinking it will go in my tool box when it comes in. By the way Honda was smarter then we thought thereis about a 2 inch long cone shaped screen in the input to the fuel pump so another filter would be redundant expecially since this one comes out and cleans so easily. In fact I took about 2 second to dump about an inch of crud out of mine. Gee do you think that might cause a problem. I went ahead and pulled the high pressure filter while I was at it and using my air compresser I forced some carb cleaner back though it. So far problem is solved. Still ain't a bad Idea having a filter for her on hand.

A screen is nice for large debris but it won't catch the small stuff that will eventually do in the expensive filter.

if I did my research correctly, ( and I usually do) the High pressure filter is the same unit used ona 1986 Honda Civic EFI engined model. I DO know for a fact that the fuel pump is the same ( I have an aftermarket one for that application on my LTD, 100 bucks as opposed to 500+)

I belive the PBR/PBL sensors are the same as for the car also, but have not seen them up close and personal. if they are, then it truly IS good news, as these have been discontinued by Mother Honda. Once I can get to a scrapyard that has one I will check it out and see.

Ok its not the fuel filter. The bike does fantastic most of the time but has on a 3 occasions now limped home after work. I will be riding along and will go to accellerate and the bike will decellarate instead then 2 seconds later surge. Sometimes if I don't adjust the throttle the bike will ocililate between power surge and no power. If I snap the throttle a few times I may kind of come out of it untill the next throttle movement. So what is my most likely culprit. Remember this is an electronic nightmare LTD.

check the throttle position sensor. if it is not giving a smooth LINEAR signal to the computer, the computer will not adujst the injector timing. I belive it is a round white plug on the left side of the steering neck.

Bad PBL/PBR sensor can give somewhat the same results. It has to put out a linear dc voltage, following vacuum changes. If you buy one, buy the left one. It'll work on either side. The leads are a little longer. Have you found this site?
