Hey all, was just sitting here wondering about my bike. I have a 85 Aspencade with 97000 Km, and have been using super grade of gas 92 octane or better for the last 3 yrs. The bike is running well, but I am only getting aprox 300km from about 18 liters of fuel. Is this about right? Seems a little on the low side for the 1200 model. And if it does seem low any suggestions on what to look for in the way of a fix?

Thanks

Sorry for the non metric crowd, that is 60625 miles on the bike using about 4 gal to travel aprox 187 miles or 46+ miles per gallon all units in imperial

One other thing, I was interested in what the 1500 and 1800 are getting as far as mpg. In case I ever win the lottery.

Hello Goldwinger !

You have to inform about your speed ! Me and my wifedrove 5000 kms from Denmark to Italy and return ! The average consumption was 18,23 kms/liter at a speed about 90-110km/Hour. Our Goldwing at that time was a GL1200 Asp. 84 model.

My experienceis,- when riding fast on a Goldwing it really "drinks" the fuel ! At a speed of 130-140 my GL1200 went down to 14-15 km/liter So is Life !
When you own a Goldwing you have to spend the money, when buying andriding it !

I have a 86 Interstate with 67,000 miles. WHILE RIDING SOLO, 55 > 75 MPH, I'll see 42/44 mpg. I run the cheapest 87 octane I can find. My 84 Aspencade did about the same. 55,000 miles on the clock when I let her go.

Hi Jan, thanks for the reply. In Ontario the major hwy speeds are 100Kph so I travel about 110Kph(Don't tell anybody) on average. I travel 120km round trip to and from work each day using the bike as much as possible and this year has been great, not too hot and not much rain. of that 120km it is split 50 / 50 city hwy. and the milage stays about the same, even on weekends when it is all hwy it stays about the same.

Sounds about right, its just under 46mpg in imperial. I get that from mine as well so yours is fine.

My 1984 Aspencade, with two up plus gear and cruising around 100 - 110 kph returns the high 40's on average.

Thanks Eamonn, I had read on the net someplace that the 1100 and 1200 if your not getting 50 to 57 mpg something was wrong. I have owned an 1100 and never got any where near that kind of mpg it was always about the same as my 1200. Thanks again

On the Goldwing yahoo board I also belong to this question has recently come up as well and some people are getting in the high 30 mpg and some in the 40 mpg range.

If you're getting 46+, from other responses I've seen, that's pretty damn good!

I'll have to recheck my 1986 Apsy as I'm not sure I'm getting that!
