I have the very same bike! And I thought I got a great deal at $1500.00. Acutally it was a straight trade for a V65 Magna that I paid $1500.00 for, but still! Nice find. By the way, I had a detail guy tell me that the paint is actually black with blue flecks in it which sometimes makes it look dark blue. Once it's shined up, it's awful pretty. You'll see.

Hey Mike, good for you. I thought I got a good deal on my 84 because it needed so little when I bought it but you got a steal.

Just curious, what is a patch holder and 1%? No offense just wondering.

Oh, no offense taken at all, and I'm glad to explain.

Patch Holder- If you see a guy on a motorcycle, most of the time a Harley, with a patch in the middle, and an arched patch above and below (ie: Viet Nam Vets, Legacy Vets, Second Brigade, Hells Angels, etc...) with MC on one of the patches somewhere, then you're looking at a Patch Holder.

The Club I support and ride with has patches that look like these

They are a neutral club, which means they claim no territory, and are known to be generally law abiding. Their cause is the American Soldier, and any soldier classified Missing In Action or Prisoner Of War. Anyone who has earned the right to wear the 3-piece patch (the MC patch above is an "outrider") is called a Patch Holder.

As I have never served in the armed forces due to a physical defect that classified me as unfit for duty in any capacity, I can never earn either of the above patches...A fact which pains me more than the arthritic hips that made me unfit for duty. But I still support the cause, and most importantly, I support the men who served who support the cause in whatever capacity they ask of me.

A better definition of 1% and 1% clubs than I could ever give can be found AT THIS LINK

For those out there who have not dealt with Patch Holders from any club in the past, if you ride alot, you will occasionally run into Clubs and Patch Holders. It's going to happen. Just remember, treat them with the same level of respect that you would want them to treat you with, and it will be returned.

And Phatty, not to worry. I've actually seen the title, and it matches the numbers on the bike. :D

Good deal indeed Mike. Have fun fixing her up. It is good to know that the bike is in good hands with one who will care for it.

I sold my 84 Aspencade 4 years ago for $3,800 and could have got more. I felt good about the guy buying it. I think I found it a good new home. He was finally stepping up to a Goldwing and was ecstatic about buying mine. That was a great bike!

Pix are coming, I promise. It's currently sitting 160 miles away waiting for my sweet to get back from Tulsa, and a meeting I have on Saturday for me to go pick it up hopefully on Sunday...Pix are coming for sure.

Got anxious and went and picked it up last night. Shouldn't have...was WAY late when I got home...but I rode her home with a tank full of Seafoam.

She'll need the carbs gone through and synchronized, and I'm going to have to tear into the rear brake system and figure out what's wrong with it. Other than that it all works.

3am is not conducive to pictures, and I just got home from a 400 mile ride...too dark and rainy for pix at the moment. Hopefully I'll see some sun in the morning and get some good pix taken
