Anybody have any suggestions short of a rebuild? I have an 81 GL1100 and the carbs have never been rebuilt. Bike runs fine but one day I smelled gas and saw an ever so slow trace on the choke cable. The bike is on its sidestand so gravity could be at work here (leak in one place and its only visual in another place).document.write('/forums/images/emoticons/emoticonsxtra/baffled.gif');

Hi Homeplate, you may want to check the fuel filter and its associatedlines. They are in area of the choke cable on the back of the carburetor array. As you say the bike is on its side stand gravity would come into play.

The choke cable isn't really below the carbs anyplace..except right at the connection point. Maybe gas from the overflow tray dripping down? On the side stand gas would flow away form the cable..at least on my 1100 it does.

The choke cable is on the right bank. No matter, there is no way the carbs could leak on the choke cable, has to be from the top of the tank.
