getting wing down off centerstand

So i finally got all the mounting hardware from the Voyager trike converter kit off of my wing and replaced the centerstand. I was pleasantly surprised how easily it goes up onthe centerstand, but how the heck do you get it off?

My legs are a little too short to get good leveregewhile sitting on the seat. So I can't push it off the stand while on the seat. My old bike would rock back onto the rear tire once I sat on it, so i could just ride off the stand. But the rear tire stays up off the groundeven when I sit on the wing.

So does anyone have any helpful hints or tricks to help get the bike off the centerstand without dropping the thing.

Also, which do you use more, the side stand or the centerstand?

Straddle the bike, both hands on the handlebars. Pull back on the handlebars while pushing forward with feet to get bike to rock as far back as possible. As bike starts to rock back forward, give it a gentle push forward on the handlebars to help it along. As soon as it goes "over center" on the center stand and starts to come down forward, I get on the front brake to ease it down gently.

I use the sidestand if out and about, or if parked for less than a few hours at home in the garage. I use the center stand when parked in the garage overnight or longer - i.e. when done riding for the day.

Hmmmm. You can't rock it down? My 1800 comes off fairly easily once I am on it. I'm not sure how you can get better leverage. There must be something you can rig up there for your feet to have a better push.
As for which one, I use the side stand when I know I'm riding it to work again the next morning. I use the center stand if it might sit a couple days or if I'm about to check oil. So, mostly, the side stand.

I grab it the same way I do when putting it on the center stand......My left hand on the left handlebar and my right hand on the seat handle,I always leave the side stand down in case I lose balance of the bike, either way.

dont sit on the bike while its on the centerstand, it will bend.

put sidestand down. left hand on the left handlebar grip.
right hand on the handle at the seat. push down with right hand and once the back wheel touches the ground. pull up and forward with the right hand. while you balance it with the left hand. once its off. let it sit on the side stand.
if you feel uncomfortable with my method, or you cant stop the bike from rolling too far forward get the bike in gear before doing this.

I always do it on the bike and I rock it forward.

I do the same. Sit on the seat and rock her forward. I also have the side stand down just in case. Use the front brake to control forwad movement after she is down.

Same here most of the time. Sometimes I straddle & rock instead, but do it standing so I don't have my weightading extra strain on the stand.

Same here....found it easier this way.......plus it don't look like I'm doing X rated stuff to the bike sitting on it and rocking it back and forthtrying to get it off the center stand:cooldevil:

I found that if I use the hand brake I can rock half way, hold that position with brake and then rock the rest of the way. Hope that makes sense.

Just the reverse of puttong it on the CS. Left hand on the left grip, right hand on the passenger grip & rock her forward. Leave side stand down:action::action:

I don't agree with the center stand potentially bending while you sit on the bike. Heck, yesterday while I was changing my oil, the wife made me a sandwich and brought it into the garage for me. I sat on the bike facing backwards, put my feet on the passenger pegs, and folded my Utopia flat and used it as a little table. Very comfortable! The Goldwing is awesome.

I use to have the same problem.... High Heels did the trick

I'm not very concerned about the stand bending either. The bike weighs what, 850 lbs? They gotta figure bike and cargo weight when designing those things. It should hold my body weight.

i use the centre stand only for prolonged periods of parking, its always on the side stand, for getting off the centre stand, mount the bike, pull back on the handle bars to get the bike rocking and then push forward, it should rock off the centre stand. As other members say, some take the bike off the centre stand while off the bike, never done this myself but if you do make sure the side stand is down.

Momma always told me there would be some benefits to being 6'5" tall. Center stand? Piece of cake...German Chocolate preferably.

thanks everyone for you replies.

Like anything else with this bike i will just have to practice it a bit more to get the technique down. i am a little bit leary trying to take it donw while standing next to the bike. i would much prefer to do it while sitting on it if possible. I iwll have to try the rocking technique.

thanks again for helping a wing newbie! (newingie?)
