Hmmmm. You can't rock it down? My 1800 comes off fairly easily once I am on it. I'm not sure how you can get better leverage. There must be something you can rig up there for your feet to have a better push.
As for which one, I use the side stand when I know I'm riding it to work again the next morning. I use the center stand if it might sit a couple days or if I'm about to check oil. So, mostly, the side stand.

I'm not very concerned about the stand bending either. The bike weighs what, 850 lbs? They gotta figure bike and cargo weight when designing those things. It should hold my body weight.
