You're a brave man. Many people would be so afraid it would fall over using that method, that it would! :action:

:waving:How about the "stability" of the bike while it is on the center stand??:?:?:?:?

I have read all comments on this post, but none related to my "situation". Due to my 10 year inactivity {disability}, I am no longer able to mount the bike in the conventional manor. I must stand on the left floorboard, grasp handlebars, lean way forward over the false tank and with great effort bring my leg around behind me and over the seat til I am able to sit on the bike; [quite a show for any onlookers}!!!:shock::shock:

This is my 1st Goldwing, so I have never had to deal with the high seat arrangement. I said all of 'that', so you could understand 'this'!!.....I have never taken a Goldwing off the centerstand. It is presently in my workshop "on" it's centerstand and will soon need to come off....will the bike remain stable enough for me to stand on the floorboard and mount it, or am I going to be lying on my workshop floor with 800 lbs of motorcycle on top of me????:(:(:(

Hint::::I am 64 and Iweigh over 400 lbs!!!:gunhead::gunhead::gunhead:

Put a 2 by 8 parallel one each side with a board screwed joining them at the back. This will give you a two inch advantage. You can leave this at home for maintenance. Park it on it's side stand when you are using it day to day. Don't leave it on the sidestand for long periods say weeks or months as the tires become distorted.

When I got my Wing at first I had a lot of problems getting the balance right. I'm 6'4", I broke my back in 1983 so when the weight starts to go I just let it go better than a year in a cage.

My problem getting the bike off of the center stand is due to my polished garage floor. It slides around like an ice rink no matter what I try. My only solution has been to put the kickstand down on the left side and then lift the bike from the right side and push it forward while 'tripping' the center stand with my foot. If I don't put my foot in front of it, it will just slide the whole bike forward. I wouldn't attempt this method from the left side in case you lose your balance in this awkward position.

Some circumstances make use of the center stand impractical. If you have back trouble or a slippery floor or ??? whatever makes it hard to use, DON'T USE THE CENTER STAND. Your tires will not distort if properly inflated. You will not be shunned by purists...Your hair will not fall out...You will not get bad credit...and you can have a friend hold the bike upright to check the oil. Just carry a flat piece of metal or whatever to put under your side stand when parking on unstable surfaces such as hot asphalt or dirt. When I use the center stand, I just mount the beast, start the motor, put it in first and take off as I rock it off the stand.

Have you considered the "Rideoff" center stand? Never had one myself, but they are supposed to be much easier to get the bike on and off. Under some circumstances, too easy and you have to watch how you leave it.

Could be a solution.:waving:
