hi hoping to get some help with a air leak on a 77 gl1000. carbs and been rebuilt . but i have a air leak where the main shaft comes out of the carb housing dose any one know if i can repack or use a o ring or what can be done to fix this problem bike run but i cant set the vacuum because of this and it does not idle right

The body is worn where the spindle passes through. You can get a bush made for it and that will solve the problem.

the bushing is fine the felt seal inside is gone looking for new felt do u have a ideas were to get them ?

I have heard ofpeople getting the felt washers from music instrument stores.

Rob_bur77: I doubt the carbs are worn. Probably just the felts. Go over to nakedwings and follow this how to. I didmy 76with the help of this thread. I made my washers just using an old felt hat. Felt is felt. Needs to be similar thickness though.You need to remove the butterflys in order to pull the throttle shafts. Very precision work needed inorder to keep them from hanging up.
