Did HONDA fit a Primary ( HVYO) chain tensioner to any GL1000 engines please? I have overhauled my GL1100 and replaced the HYVO chain as it had 25mm slack in it yet it did not rattle at all- Efficient primary chain tensioner I wonder??? Can I fit one to the GL1000???

The GL1000 rattles when hot and the carbs are balanced OK.

The 78/79s have tensioners. I don't know if the 75/77 can be retro-fitted. I also know of many 1000s and 1100s that don't rattle when "perfectly tuned". Ignition problems as well as carb problems will cause the primary chain to rattle.

Don't know about the GL1000 but the older CB750's get a clutch rattle that's pretty nasty. Does the noise decrease significantly if you pull the clutch lever?

The 78-79 sprung tensioner can be retro fitted to the 75-77, but the 1100 one also fits and in my opinion is a better design.
This is the 78-79 1000 one, item #5

Then why is it that 1100 seem to have the most trouble with primary chain rattle?
