Has anyone had any experience with these replacement mufflers for a GL1000? http://www.jcwhitney.com/JARDINE-SLIP-ON-REPLACEMENT-MUFFLERS-FOR-GOLD-WINGS/GP_2006464_N_111+200008236+600014658_10111.jcw
How much do they change the tone of the original? I like the tone of the OEM's but they're a) no longer available and/or b) stupid expensive if you happen to luck upon a set.

Oops, wrong thread, I havent done that, YET, but will be doing it as well

They show those as only available for the 1200's and 1500's. Might get by by modifying the ones for the 1200's.

They do have a set for the 1100, but it's more pricey

Many on the forum, including me, have fitted harley sportster mufflers. You can find new ones on ebay pretty cheap.

It has been my experience that products like these from JC DO NOT LAST!

Now maybe these are extremely high quality pieces and I am all wet but I owuld NOT buy anything else from Witney

Aspectone has a point. I have bought motorcycle goodies from JCW and it's a "hit and miss" proposition. Bought a replacement seat one time... They didn't specify a maker, but when it arrived it was Travelcade (very pleased for the price). On the other hand, it's been my experience that most of the chrome goodies are "lightly" chromed. They're ok if you're like me and aren't lookin' for show chrome, but they aren't top shelf. I've bought tires and tubes from JCW and have been pleased. Problem with tires is that you don't know how old the tire is until you get it and read the sidewall (that's a problem with any mail order tire). The ones I've gotten haven't been too old, but it's always a concern. I run Harley fishtails on my bobber and am thinking about doin' the same to my dresser. Respects.

I just installed a new set of Jardines. I gotta tell you these things are quality mufflers. They were easy to install, and sound great!!!! Hands down, the best $620 I ever spent!

How close to stock do they sound? I liked the stck tone. Any chance of uploading some sound? Youtube maybe?

I plan on recording the sound on the motad exhaust that I bought this spring. Just got Samson back on the road after an engine rebuild.
