Hi, I'm new to the forum so hopefully this is the correct way to post my question. I am putting a 1982 1100 engine into my 1980 GL. As part of the switch I am putting new clutch plates in the 1982 engine. The 1980 clutch cover has a different style of mechanism for engaging the clutch than the 1982, there is a little rod that sticks into the basket area on the 1980, but it appears that the 1982 just has a solid "button" that pushes directly on the bearing surface. I just want to make sure there isnt something missing from the 1982 engine, it looks as if Honda justsimplified the part in 1982. Let me know if all this makes sense or am I missing some sort of pushrod on the 1982 engine.

Sorry no one has answered you yet. I believe you have it right. The 80-81 has a rod and 82-83 have only the "button".
Put the cover on and pull up on the lever to check for proper feel of the clutch action.
