GL 1100 Heads 81" and 83"

611 Views 7 Replies 6 Participants Last post by  pippins71
Hello,
I am looking at heads off the 81 GL1100 and off the 83" Aspencade
Seems the Intake Valve off the 81' (OEM Part number 14711-371-000 ) is different then the 83' ( OEM part number 14711-MB9-780 )
Anyone by chance know what the difference is other then the OEM number ?

Just wondering if I have to take the 81' valves out and replace them with the 83's ( Installing the 81 heads in an engine with the 83' Crank shaft)

Thank You !

Hello Chilidawg,
I try to do all the research I can on some of this stuff, When I come to a road block is when I bug all you smart riders.. hehe
I don't think there is any difference other than the part #. All the specs are the same.
They have different valve stem keepers. I don't remember which has wich but the valves interchange in the heads.
ok Dave ..We know that for sure ?
Would be nice to not have too chance the valve , don't want it to hit the piston ( long stem )or not open long enough\too long is my fear ..

It is the camshaft that produce the lift , so no problems there !
All 1100 engine parts 80-83 are interchangeable no problem on head swap. :)

Safe riding..
