The inner wheel bearing in the rear wheel of my 1100 is loose?!?

I replaced the original with a new sealed bearing but the one Honda sent is loose also. Should this be?? Maybe worn wheel??:X

Sounds like the wheel is worn. The old bearing may have started to seize and spun the outer race in the wheel. The soft ally of the wheel woudn't stand a chance with the steelrace and will have worn loose in a few seconds. You might be able to get the wheel machined out and an insert sleeve pressed in so that the bearing will fit properly. Check out the price of a used wheel first, might be cheaper.

I just replaced the rear bearings on my 83 GL1100 and it was a tight fit. Assuming you have the right bearing, the wheel sounds like the problem.

A second hand wheel may be a beter bet, I wouldn't trust a sleeve.

A sleeve would be a better option Ambrose, especially if the sec hand wheel was worn as well. This type of problem is common on bike wheels. The sleeve is the normal way to repair the wheel and lasts forever!

Hey I just noticed someone added mana to my profile! Thanks. :skipping:
