I am assuming I have an earth problem on my "88 GL 15, Fuel guage stopped working, have noticed thatalso brake lights, front lever and foot , brake lights work sporadically...anybody know where (assuming it is an earth problem), where to start looking for the cause? I also found taht the right front fog lamp kept "burning" the plastic casing, I mangaed to renew the light socket, but I have obviously not cured the root cause..

Any help appreciated,

Ian

Hi Alex,

thanks for the info, will give it a bash over the weekend. I renewed the rear tyre last Friday eve, removed side load boxes, I could have disturbed something in the process. Will post "fix" when and if I find the problem!

much appreciated,
Ian

Its SERIOUSLY Haunted!! I went to the store this eve to do the usual "bread and milk run", joyfully hopped on bike all lights came on, turned the starter and click...all dead...that nauseating feeling when you start wondering how the Hell you going to get this heavy machine home tonight...fuses were all good, I left ignition on, fiddled with battery cable, lights came on again...after a few attempts she started, rode home, very gently, turned off ignition once parked in garage, and dead again...Loosened and retightened pos battery terminal, which happens to have a thin single wire accompanying it (what is that wire for)? The thin wire had no terminal on it, I put one on and retightened, and all fine now (still dont have operating fuel guage) taht still remains a mystery and will check the plug you mentioned Alex....seems she may have separate "Ghosts" haunting. One of those situations taht once out riding again you cant help but wonder "what next"...
