Was working on my buddie's 1500 and he had an interesting farkle that I had never seen previously. I wanted to share with you all as you all have helped me!

His LCD display appeared to have been damaged by the sun, and evidently the PO of the bike had added this piece of homemade farkle to the dash. I had previously read on this site about protecting my LCD Display from the sun-and so I thought if some one else could do it, so could I! Went to hardware store and bought 1/8th " plexiglas. Pulled off the "Sun shield" from his dash and used it for a template. Heated the plexiglas w/my electrical heat gun. Make sure that as you bend it, don't get in a hurry, or it will crack and you will have to start over. After I had it bent accordingly and let her cool, then I started shaping the edges to match fitting it into the dash panel. Once I got it to fit, I painted it black on both side with spray paint. I didn't feel good about making the small "tips" at the top, so once I got it cut to fit into the dash opening, I put 2 small holes into the side of the panel plastic and put small screws to hold it tight. Let me know what you think. I will post pix of his next. For whatever reason, my gmail ain't sending right now. Will post pix of template later this pm.

Pretty proud of how it came out. Bud

thats the one i got....
Good idea... I picked up several sheets of ABS plastic off Amazon, so I have some material to play with. The ABS sheets are textured on one side too.

Another project to do.
Ok where is the like button!!!!! I need one of those after I replace my LCD Display.
I think I like the home built one better. You really should consider making them to sell...

TennX - That may be where the one on the bike came from. It has a patent # on it, so if it is from there, they had a great idea, and I don't want to get in trouble for stealing someone else's stuff, however, I didn't know where it came from originally. Anyway, for what it is worth, he ain't chargin much for his time an labor, so it is up to you guys. I just relayed how I did it!.

Thanx to all others for the compliments. Shoot me a pm if you want any additional info.

Bud
