Hi, I bought a grey import GL1500 from the USA and am very pleased with it. However, the FM part of the radio increments in the 'ODD' numbers which is specific for the USA. In the UK we increment on the even numbers. i.e. for my local radio station I would want to tune in to 105.2. However my radio will only give me 105.1 or 105.3. is there a simple way of modifying the radio to place it into UK spec??

cheers

I don't know about the display, but I am sure that the radio can be re-aligned so that it is centered on the even "slots" even if the display reads odd (which it sounds like you have already done)... maybe wayne from Sierra will show up to help..

It can be modified (Mine is the same) but you have to go into the pcb to do it. I've not bothered and just bought an MP3 transmitter that uses an SD card. Now I have hours (and hours) of my music.

hi you could fit a band expander to the aerial you will get it in most auto stores for a few pounds

I don't think the band expander is necessary.. I think itis used to expand the Japenese spec (74-90 Mhz)radios to European and US standards...

The only difference that I know between US an Euro spec is that US is on odd slots.. and Euro is on even (between the US stations).. a simple realigning of the radio will move the center frequency to the proper slot, but the display is digitally controlledand what it dispays is rather arbitrarily determined onwhat the PLL output is programed to do.. My guess is that there is a pin on the PLL tuner that would change one bit and it would display properly, but it would take having the radio documentation and knowing the radio to do this.. It is probably easier to realign and leave the display alone and just live with it..
