I just returned from reading the threads on cleaners and wax for windscreens. We used Plexus on the helicopters as recommended by Bell. I have used Pledge in the field with no bad effects but, the best way to get bugs and dirt off is lots and lost of water, mild liquid soap and you hand lightly. HD makes a spray on. wait the wipe off bug be gone that works great.

My question for today is rain on my windscreen. The waxing beads the water, as it should and when riding along guess where it pools into larger drops? Yup. The upper rear trailing edge of the windscreen and from there a short flight to your face. :)

Is there a clip on rain gutter, wiper or old school trick?

Might give this a try http://www.saeng.com/product.php?id=581&category=80. I used it on a fairing for my old BMW and it worked to keep the rain from coming over the edge. The only draw back would be if the top edge of your windshield is in your line of sight.
