Has anyone made their own coil service tester as used in the factory service manual?

I'll be testing various coils in various ways and this tool looks to be useful. I'm certain I can make one. Wondering if others have done the same.

I'm wanting a dedicated piece of test equipment to test a coils secondary output.Maybe witha adjustable spark gap.. This thing does it? Wondering if anybody has gone and made one. I'm thinking a original Honda tester is all but disentegrated into history by now.
