Hello..........I have a 1978 GL1000. I purchased this motorcycle in October of 1977. I have since put 450,000 Kms. on it. Some great times, to say the least.

I see references made to GL's such as, K1,K2,K3 and also GL1000 A and GL1000 B, when searching for parts.

Can anyone explain to me what these designations refer to, and also,how would I determine what belongs to my motorcycle?

For what it might be worth, my motorcycles serial number is 4017316.

Any comments would be appreciated.

Thankyou...............Dave

1978= GL1000K3 > Frame # starts @ GL1-4000001 > Engine # starts @ GL1E-4000001

An "A" designator may mean it's a U.S. specific model.
