I am getting ready to install a Dyna electronic ignition in my 78 GL1000. I noticed that the backplate does not have any holes in it for mounting, but the instructions say to use the same holes that the old timing plate used to mount it with the screws provided in the kit. Can anyone tell me how that plate mounts. Does it set between the screws or what holds it in place if it has no screw holes?

It mounts just like the points plate you removed. Use the original screws which clamp the plate down on the edges.
