Hey yall, i just came onboard to your forum after reading some goldwingfacts, thanks for having me. I finally got my old girl (78' gl1000) runninggood this spring after a top end gasket kit and rebuilding the carbs and replacing the exaust. Last fall it was using coolant. for a while i wouldreplace my coffee from my thermos with water at work and top off the radiator before my 50 mile ride back home ... this got tiresome so i tore it apart, had the heads reconditioned and dressed up for flatness, reassembled and was successful. Suddenly, i am back to the old symptoms (white smoke and gurgling) and i am wondering if i may be able to get away with simply retorquing, or maybe i was supposed to do that after the firstheatup? If i recall correctly, i would have to remove the cams anyway to gain access to a couple headbolts, so maybe remove the heads again anyways? I don't think i ever checked the block for flatness last time, maybe this is the culprit? Thanks.

You would get a good response if you placed this in the technical section and there are shop manuals in the FAQ reference section.

And by the way,

Welcome from the state of Pennsylvania!

I recommend you post your question over in the technical section. Most of the gurus won't see it over here, and a lot more people frequent over there. Just a few of us greeters hang out over here on a regular basis.
