GL1000 missing, and broken parts!

need to ask 2 questions 1 in the oil filter there sould be a washer,how important is that? and i broke the generator bolt cap , can i take a spin with out it? i just adjusted the valves and would like to go for a short ride :(

the washer in your oil filter keeps the sping from getting into your filter and allows for proper tension to be applied to the filter to hold it in place.
you will lose oil out of the hole with out the pluge in place. a patch of duck tape on a grease or oil free surface will last a while. but no garentees it`ll last long. my 2 cents worth .

caps are easy to find..it's the same one used on lots of Hondas like the 750's they had eight of them covering the valve adjustment ports..buy from a dealer or a junk yard.

Use a cork in the short run over to the junkyard...or even a press in grommet cap from Ace hardware...
