GL1000 Over heating

well it either has to be the water pump or that the radiator needs to be cleaned and checked by a radiator shop
are you sure the fan is working correctly

Pull the lower hose manifold. Wiggle the pump side to side. They usually begin to drip through a weep hole on the bottom to tell you they're heading south. Rule that out first. If it's still tight, try to flush the radiator. Any chance timing got moved and is too advance? If your fan isn't coming on it could be the thermo switch which often accumulate enough to keep a plunger from opening to turn the fan on. The fan has 12v all the time, but is grounded through the thermo switch. Some people by pass the switch and control it themselves. I'd forget for sure. Others keep them on continuously. Fans aren't going to last long that way. You have some diagnostics to do.

It may be helpful to have a few more details. Does it overheat every time you ride? Does the fan come on at all? Are you losing coolant? Is this something that has gradually presented or did it begin suddenly?
It could be something as simple as a bad radiator cap.

could be blown/leaking head gasket, allowing coolant level to always be too low,
does coolant get forced into overflow, & then sucked back into system when cooling down? (if not, probably head gasket issues..)
