gl1100 brakes locked up

Got my 83 interstate out today after pulling it apart and cleaning the tank. I hit the road and in less than 5 miles the brakes locked up bringing me to a stop. ( tool kit/ leatherman)
Put it on the centerstand and the rear tire wouldn't even turn, bled the front brake with no change so I rapped on the rear master while I pumped the rear brake and it let loose. Never second guess the guys on here that have been there.

:waving:highcountry, could be the master cylinder, I guess, but more likely the rear brake pedal is not working freely. These get rust/corrosion on the shaft making it not return to the fullup position. Little grease helps keep it free.:action:

sounds like the fluid return passage in the master cylinder is plugged. fairly easy fix. pull the master, take apart and completely clean and reassemble with all old parts. it should work fine
