Rebuilding some gl1100 carbs. Kits came with what appear to be slow jets, but can't find them nowhere in the carb body. Am I missing something? Its an 81' There is a port right next to the main jet, that looks like there may be a jet down in there , but there is no slot in it to remove it. Any help on this issue. I was told that these are really fussy. Also, when setting the idle mixture screws, the dealer manual says 80-81 1-3/4 turns out and 82-83 3 turns out. This is an 81 and the original screws where all about 3 turns out. Play it by the book, or go by what the old were set at ? Any advise?

use a vaccuum pump and see if they are open. then put some carb cleaner in it and blow and see if it comes out the inside passages near thge throttle plate. If it does your idle circuits are clear. you can screw a sheet metal screw into those and pull them out to clean if needed i used a wire strand from a bicycle cable to clean mine. 82 carbs they are threaded in.
