I am getting ready to remove the clutch plates on my 80 standard. Do I need the special socket to do this?

You need the 4 pronged socket to get the center nut off the clutch pack. Unless BW has a special way without using the socket.

I'd loan mine, but it was stolen.

I didn't get one. after staring at stuff on the tool board, I grabbed the CV Joint spreader and went to the grinder.I'll get a picture of it tomorrow. Basically just ground it to where it would pick up two of those castellations and put an adjustable wrench on it perpindicular to the CV Joint tool, lefty loosey, and off it comes. Or you can go down to Honda with your self warming KY in hand and ask them to be gentle with you.:D
