GL1100 ignition coils

i have a 1980 gl 1100 will the coils from a 84 1200 interchange?



they look exactly alike im getting the part number off the case from the guy im going to buy it from so just seeing what will work



i priced new good gawd........ i'd need to sell a kidney to buy them



i wonder if an automotive coil could work...... just one wire for each cylinder???????? might have to play around with that sometime

I think the 1200 has a ballast resistor for the coils and the 80 1100 does not. They probably would work fine if you also got the resistor.

he gave me the part number and they do not match i believe mine are AW-82TRI and the ones he is selling are DW82TRI


the picuture is on the for sale or wanted fourm, under parting out 84 interstate the picture only has the coils and wires only nothing else i know the resistor your talking about its mounted just before the coils on the bracket assembly i'll try and get coils off ebay for an 80 or 81 from what i can tell those two years mix ok but beyond 82 not much will interchange easily

This page has one in stock at the moment, I believe the coils for the 1000 is the same? 75-83 is a lot of coil possibilities. My 80 does not have the resister, I bought a pair from ebay that came with the resister and I did not install it. Maybe I should have? My originals were cracked badly, the ones I got work fine.
