Hi Everyone,

I am pretty sure I need carb work done. When I hit the 4000 RPM mark and if the engine in under any strain the engine starts knocking like something’s gona give. If I slack off the gas just a bit the knock almost immediately goes away almost 100%.

I just got back from a 250 km run and noticed that the muffler on the left hand side of the bike was quite sooted up. Not oily soot but light and fluffy like the inside of a kerosene lamp.

Any ideas? Too rich?

Tim.

Too rich? Possibly. One of my floats was way off and would cause a stutter when going up hills. Belched gas fumes according to my friend riding behind me.

Could also be a coil going bad. What do the plugs look like? Done the full throttle/shutoff engine test yet?

Hey buddy...pull the plugs on that side & take a look. My #2 was causing almost the same symptoms & turned out to be fouled....

Wish I'd have read this earlier...we could have taken a quick look while you were here!
