Hi

I have a gl1100 with similar mileage. It does use a bit of oil but not 1 litre! Of the oil use is not obvious then it could be from the rings. Might also be worth checking the airbox for signs of old oil contamination and a good look under the bike. I have just had new exhaust guides on both heads. They wore quicker than the inlet. Just athought for someone else with a high miler.

I only mention the airbox as when mine was in bits I noticed the pipe from the crankcase to the airbox as blocked up and full of sticky oil. The rest sat around the edge of the airbox close to where the breather pipes enter at the rear of the assembly. I only mention because this caused excess crankcase pressure leading to oil loss through weak points such as the gear change spline. I run on basic 10/40 oil and tend to change the oil and filter every 2500.
