I just got a 81 gl1100 and I need to find the radiator cap. I have found the little plastic tank, and filled it. but the coolant dosent seem to be making it to the cooling system.

You'll have to take off the 'fake' gas tank first. The cap is on the right side of the radiator and a little difficult to reach.

is that right as you are sitting on it?

Yes, right side getting the false tank off requires removing the seat, two bolts there and two 10mmm bolts on each side at the front lower corner of the "tank". Then lifting and spreading the tank a bit to get past all the electrical stuff on the left side and the reservoir on the right.

if you remove the right lower farring it is right in front of you easy to get
after you remove the tank
to remove the tank remove the trunk and the seat

Thanks so much guys. This my first goldwing, my first head gasket etc. I really appreciate the help, and I'm sure I will need to call on you guys in the future as well.
