I have to ask to ease my mind. I removed the rear drive unit on the gl1100 when I installed a new rear tire. I greased the rear shaft spline and applied the same grease on the gear cogs in the drive unit. I put new gear oil in the unit. My question does it matter what type of grease you apply to the gear cogs or spline in the drive unit.

Thanks for the info. getting ready to take a long trip. I will remove the drive unit again and apply the molly paste.
