I've only ever run Elite II MU90H16 on my bike and I'm thinking of firing Dunlop this time for something different, all the others identify as a 130 or 140/90/16, if I'm right then the first # is the width, the second is the aspect ratio and the third the wheel size.

What number most closely matches the MU in the Dunlop sizing or better still, what other tires have you guys used with some sucess?

What year wing? I have an 82 and the manual calls for 140/90/16 on the rear and 120/90/18 on the front. You are correct about what the number means. Just make sure you get a tire with the correct weight rating. Most tires in our size are really not strong enough for the weight of our bike. You have to take into consideration what you plan to do like ride two up, traveling with lots of crap, or pulling a trailer. It's worth the extra money to buy the correct tire to avoid any future problems. As far as brand, that's something you need to research on your own. There are as many opinions on tires as there is on oil and deer whistles. I can't believe I just said that.

I like the bridgestone spitfire 11f dual compound tires. they wear real good and the last few I bought were cheaper than 404`s. dennis kirk. I only got 4000 miles out of 404`s on a roadstar and at 5000 the 11f`s still were not even 1/2 gone. It was a 750 + pound bike. I have 11f`s on my 82 wingding and love them. no reason to buy anything else so far. samk.

Bridgestones have been having problems with several types.
I had a Spitfire rear on 1100 that got bad splits all the way around the tire in less than 5K miles in about 5 months and it was a fresh dated tire then also.
I saw others have the same problem with their Spitfire, and also with other types of Bridgestones, so I won't buy them now myself.

Was a great tire till it did the splits!

I've been doing my homework as justayooper suggested and I came up with a Michelin Commander II, I'd never heard of them before but the blurb on them says they last twice as long as most, stick like the proverbial s#!t to a blanket and not a bad price either, $145 delivered to the door. Has anyone had any experience with them?
