The bike was running fine till today when it had no power and started to make a poping sound at 4000 rpm and during deceleration. Not sure what could of happened it was fine this morning and then after it sat in the parking lot it started fine but had no power. You can also smell a gas flodding smell i think it was me. So I am sure you are going to say the carbs but I just want to get thorugh the season cause Pulling the tank is a pain I have been told. Any ideas what it could be would be great.

Thanks again

Hi Bisitik,

You may have just gotten some bad gas or a little water in a carb. May also be a little gunk in a jet. At any rate, a couple tanks of gas conditioner/carb cleaner type stuff may be the ticket. It won't hurt anything to try anyway.

BTW, you dont have to remove the tank to get the carbs out.

Check the plugs and see if you have one carb that is fouling, if so give that one a few good taps with a rubber hammer while it's running, you might just have a piece of crud in the seat.

Ditto on the seafoam, it absorbs moisture and helps clean the carbs while it's running. Try to buy gas without ethanol as it attracts moisture on it's own. I have 2 local stations I buy from and neither is open on Sundays(both family owned) so I fill up on Saturday to begin a Sunday ride with even if I have to buy ethanoled gas on the ride.
