GL1100 Starter Problems

take it back apart and see if the field wire is still connected to the lug that the battery cable hooks to . if you check it when apart with a ohm meter it should show a open.

I will do that tomorrow.....I did find that the wire in the very back of the armature is missing some insulation, also that same wire has a end that can be bent, is that suposed to touch the back of the brush cover plate to make a connection ???? I will re examine everything tomorrow, something is not making a connection. Thank's
