GL1100 stator identity question

Ok I know the super smart gurus here have an answer to such a simple question.

What do I measure (and where do I measure it)
to find out whether or not my stator is the original version ....
or has it been replaced already with a newer higher output stator?

Also wasn't the original only a 30 AMP or what amperage was it?

These newer ones seem to advertise 50 to 60 AMP I think...
or do I have my numbers all confused?

I'm adding a pair of 55 watt driving lights and want to know if I have the amperage to handle it or if I need to downsize to 35 watt bulbs.
I also plan to add the wrap around tail light bar next year so I need to run my calculations now.

I don't have a good answer to how to know if it is OE or not. A charging system analyzer might give an indication.
The original is 300 watt or approx. 25 amps at 3000 RPM. I doubt any claim of 50-60 amps from an aftermarket stator. The charging system wiring would all have to be changed to handle it.

I can't help with your answer but 35W bulbs can be obtained from O'Reilly's for $4 each.

I would seriously doubt the higher amperage stator would have the exact same wires coming from it. Are the wires yellow, and match the other 3 wires at the plug?

eBay stators usually advertise a 20% higher output than OEM. Still not enough for two 55's.

I imagine there should be a number on the stator somewhere, maybe stamped into some part of it.

If you post a picture of what you have I can compare it to an OEM I have in the shop.

So you're saying that if someone did have a 50 - 60 Amp alternator then all the wiring would have to be changed?

That doesn't seem right to me. Nobody with the poor boys is saying anything about changing all the wiring on their bikes.

So what wiring are you referring to? Is it just the wires coming from the stator?

And maybe I need to clearify the original question.

I want to measure the output and at some given RPMs and see what the voltage or amperage is.

What RPMs should I use and where do I connect my voltmeter.

Or should I be reading amps?

What should I be seeing.
I have potential damage to mine and I need to see if its undamaged or ruined.

i bought an aftermarket stator for my 1100 from j p cycles the stator it had the oem plug in's and the metal plug with an oil seal already on it plugged right in the only thing you need to save is the snap ring on the metal passthrough from the stator housing
