I have a 83 GL 1100 and at idle the tach jumps around. The carbs are synced and she seem to have a slight roll at idle, any help on this? Could it be the idle mixture adjustments they are set a three turns out now.

It could be the tach cable itself.Unless you can hear the engine change rpm.A rusty cable will cause eratic movement of the needle.

Defo the cable. I have the same problem.

My original cable broke and I didn't have any movement. I changed it for a new one but didn't route it properly and now get the bouncing. Going to replace again.

I believe the starting position for the pilot screws is 1 1/4 out

Might try fiddling with those.
