Noisy turn signal relay?
GL1100 Turn Signal Questions
Hello! I need some more of your help. When I use the turn signals on my 80 model GL1100 I hear a high pitched whine. It happens more often when I use the left signal. Also it takes a few seconds to start working and I'm not sure if that's normal. As always any help will be greatly appreciated!

Until 82 Honda had a 'beeper' that sounded when the turn signals were on. This was so you would not forget they were on, and Honda used a self canceling device in 82 and later, eliminating the beeper.Hello! I need some more of your help. Low voltage to the turn signal circut or bad connections/grounds can cause your problem.
If the connections and grounds are good you might have either a bad turn signal relay or bad beeper. If you unplug the beeper and the signals work as they should you have a bad beeper. Otherwise you most likely need a new relay.

Sick beeper. I forgot about them being on the early 1100s. We used to Yank them off the bikes in the 70's but after riding with some group rides and seeing people leave their signals on for miles, there are just some folk that have to have them noise makers to get them to turn off the signals after they turn! Too many bikes even recently that don't have auto cancel signals.
find the sourse of your noise and see if its a relay or little round beeper if its just beeper unplug it and ride

And no one has told him the beeper is located on the left fork just above the lower triple tree clamp.

At 40 mph or less the turn signal beeper should click. Above 40 mph the turn signal beeper should be a pulsating high pitch whine.

I hit the on ramp for the freeway and darn near crapped myself when it went off!:shock:
