hi wingers

just overhauled my 1200 i/state '84
wiring and found this little critter
wrapped up in tape.
i can't find it on the schematic,
it looks like an aftermarket part
for something. the colored wires
are going to the reg, rec.
the black is just dangling, not connected.
i think it was used to install a
bike alarm. i did find one in the
right pocket. still working
on the fairing harness.
i can test all the wiring then.

please see the mysterious relay.

any advice greatly appreciated!

You are right… something that a previous owner installed. Take it, along with the wiring attached to it out and make the proper repairs to where ever it was spliced into. You guess is better than ours of its previous function.

sometimes folks will use a relay to operate air horns. Low power switch for a high draw accessory.

I absolutely agree with those above, strip it out, clean it up & then find out what don't work. it ain't gonna be much, believe me!
