I have an '85 Goldwing that will start and run well for about 5 minutes and then die. When I try to restart it cranks fine but just backfires. It has a new battery but the problem began when using the old one.Any advice would be great.

Thanks

What John said, mine had the same symptoms last year! Changed out the pulse generators and no problems since. Pull it apart and also check timing belt alignment. You never know....you can also ohm out the pulse generators under the false tank top left corner , a 4 wire plug- in if I remember correctly. A quick check can verify if it's time to dive into the timing covers. Good luck!

Jim, I purchased mine at Honda. Don't fool around and stick with oem stuff. They were around 86 bucks Canadian when I bought mine last year. In the US, should be cheaper somewhat I'd imagine. They are sold as a pair with a common plug in which hooks up under the false tank. About a 2-3 hour job roughly......4-5 hours if beer involved!
Good luck sir.
