I have an '85 Goldwing that will start and run well for about 5 minutes and then die. When I try to restart it cranks fine but just backfires. It has a new battery but the problem began when using the old one.Any advice would be great.

Thanks

Welcome to the forum, Jimmy! Another member has just had the same problems as you. For him, it turned out to be bad pulse units for the spark control. Your's are located behind the timing belt covers, right by the crankshaft. Look back thru the past posts for the last week or so. Or do a search for something like "engine dies". Read up on what to test before buying parts. Electrical parts normally are not returnable.
