GL1200 Backfiring/Won't start

I have an '85 Goldwing that will start and run well for about 5 minutes and then die. When I try to restart it cranks fine but just backfires. It has a new battery but the problem began when using the old one.Any advice would be great.

Hello again,

Does anyone know where to buy new pulse generator(s) for a 1985 Aspencade? Are they available only through Honda and are they very expensive?

Also, is it a single part for all four cylinders or does pulse "generators" mean 2 units?

I'm sorry for all the questions and apologies for being a "Newbie"

I hope that some day I will be able to pass along some valuable information.

Thanks to all who provided possible solutions to my problem. I installed new pulse generators and, after 150 miles, the bike is still running happily.
