No, originally there was a splitter installed on the single antenna.

Mostly the second antenna was installed for aesthetic reasons, I never noticed any improvement in either transmission or reception when I installed the second antenna.

Obviously CB purists are going to possibly argue, but all I was interested in is talking to the bikes I was traveling with and not transmitting across country

Well we shall add to your meager knowledge of the 1200 series.

Attached is a picture of the antenna distributor which came with the CB kit on the 1200 series.

Item 63 is the antenna distributor.

Like I said I never noticed any difference adding the second antenna. I have been driving the 1200 since 1985 with the CB.

The second antenna gives a place to add another flag though.
