I have searched the archives, and have found questions but no answers.

84 Interstate

Choke operates properly, but "crawls" back to the off position.

I looked for a tension adjustment, but found none.

What am I missing?

Rusty.

There should be a plastic cap below the button that you pull if you have a pull type choke. Turn the plastic ring that surrounds the choke shaft clockwize to tighten. it should work.

Im not sure if your wing has this type of choke, so Im just guessing.

The 1200 has a rotating control, that surrounds the handlebar shaft, along with the clutch master cylinder. I've looked all around it for any kind of tension adjustment.

the 1200 is different than 1100. those have a little steel ball with a spring to keep it tight, it usually flies away when you take the assembly apart. your may be missing.

It's stuff like this that makes me want to kill the prior owner. LOL.

Any vehicle you purchase, you've got to sort out prior-owner's disease.

Look where the choke cable goes into the assembly mentioned above. There should be a lock nut and a chrome hexagon piece. That hexagon piece is the adjuster. Loosen the lock nut and turn the hexagon piece. It sounds like the choke is just a little to tight.
