The micro switchs at the clutch lever perform two functions:

1. Completes and cancels the cruise control system.

2. Allows the bike to start in gear.

its main function is to allow the bike to start while in gear when the lever is pulled.. when they added the cruise control. it also send it a signal to cancel.

Thanks I notice my clutch doesn't close one of the swicthes unless I push it slightly with my hand I guess that is why my crusie control doesnt work.

The clutch lever should have a small "arm" that comes down from the main body of the lever and the"arm" is what is suppose to hit the micro for the cruise. If the clutch lever does not have the "arm" it may be that a PO replaced the lever from a bike that didn't have factory cruise. If it does have the "arm" but the "arm" is not touching the micro just take and wrap electrical tape around the "Arm" until it activates the micro. Worked on my '87. Cheapest fix I ever did.

There are actually 4 micro switches that tie into the cruise controls: clutch lever, front brake lever, rear brake pedal and throttle. The first 3 are easy as you should be able to hear them click but the throttle one is a bit tougher since it is buried in the bowels of the carb assembly.

Do the "Cruise On" and Cruise Set" lights on your dash both come on? If they do then it's most likely just your micros that aren't allowing the cruise to engage. The other most common culprit is the "T" in the vacuum line that becomes brittle with age and develops a leak. Worth the effort to find the problem. Electronic cruise is a nice feature.

Cruise on light comes on and cruise set lights for a second i guess for a blub check but I will diffenatly ck the other micros. I know the one on the ft brake is working as I put a new leaver on as my brake light stayed on . The bushing hole in the leaver was worn it now works good. I'll have to check the rest. Thanks
