lube the outside of the seal, insert it into the lower tube and firmly push up the lower tube to seat the seal

Is this the same for a 1100 ? I am hoping it is, need to
do mine. This seams more idiot proof then the manual.

What year 1100? If it is an 83 then it should be identical. On the older ones, it seems that there is a backup ring on both sides of the seal.
If you look at post # 17, the 2 washers and the spring are not on the 1100. There is a small cap that goes on the end. You will need to clean the cap well and use a small amount of grease to hold it in place durring assembly.

I think that is the only difference that I can remember.
