Looking inside the tank, the screen protecting the pickup looks mangled and rotten. Can the pickup be removed from the tank and the screen replaced? It is affecting the flow out the petcock.

If you take it to a radiator shop for a cleaning and treatment the first thing they do is reach in there with a crowbar and rip the screen out. The only way to replace the screen or the tubes is to cut holes in the tank and braze up repairs.

I've had the screens out of one of my 1000s for a long time. Main thing to remember is not to drop in dirt, stones, leaves or other junk into the fuel tank that can sink to the bottom and plug or strangle the tubes. I did add a Russel cleanable inline fuel filter.
