I have a 1987 gl1200a Aspencade when I pull the clutch in I louse readout on the dash for what gear I'm in I know it a dildo but where it is and what it look like I don't know can someone post a photo of it and where it is

The gear selector indicator really doesn't have anything to do with the clutch switch.....except the neutral light.
There is a blocking diode/silicon rectifier located in the main harness on the left side under the seat. Possibly back feeding into the display with the clutch switch is activated.
Remove the diode. The bike will only start with the clutch switch, but you be able to verify dash indicator operation.
